Art Supply Junkie
I have a small art supply addiction. I love it all! The packaging, the smell, the colors and of course using them! I am often asked what I use to create my art so I'm sharing it here.
Art Supply Haul from Tuesday Mornings & Target
Matte dauber paints, watercolor sprays, washi tape, ink, baubles, rub-ons, chipboard letters, paper, tissue paper, stencils and more. These were all purchased at Tuesday Mornings and Target.
Gelli Printing Plates
Gelli Printing Plates 8x10 and 3x5in from Gelli Arts. GREAT for printing amazing painted designs onto paper. Use with stencils and texture plates for more options. Careful, it's very addicting!
Golden High Flow Paints
These are the most fluid form of Golden brand paints. I used them to make drips and for a translucent layer of paint without loosing viscosity. Love the applicator bottles they come in too.
Crayons aren't just for kids anymore! Watercolor crayons are one of my favorite art mediums. You scribble down on your paper and then use water on a brush or a waterbrush to active them and they look like watercolor paint! My favorite brand is Caran D'Ache Neo Color II's but I also use Staedler Watercolor crayons. These are great for skin tones on characters and backgrounds.
Painting isn't just for canvases and paper! I love painting on wooden plaques, wooden canvases and even log slices.
Inks Inks and more Inks
I love inks! I use Tim Holtz Disress Stain Inks, Acrylic inks, India Inks, spray inks, any inks I can get my hands dirty with!
I love finding things I wasn't looking for when shopping for art supplies. Here I found some origami I use in collage art, a lovely wash brush, a canvas pack and some Tim Holtz Ionic Scissors. The scissors are one of my most proud possessions. I get arthritis in my hand from time to time so cutting paper used to kill! But not with these scissors? They are the best pair I've ever used. All of these items were purchased at Michaels.
The BEST brands of paint in my opinion are Golden, Liquitex, and Amsterdam. These are all thick, creamy and rich. There's a HUGE difference between these paints and cheap craft paints. Although there is a time and a place for the cheap stuff, these paints are worth the money.
Ikea is Fabulous!
Who doesn't heart Ikea right? Well this is the Raskog cart in Aqua I got for $30. If there's not an Ikea near you, don't fret. In the US they only charge $10 shipping for this baby. You can adjust the shelves and I've added Ikea's plastic basket liners to hold all my art supplies. There's still room around the edges for more supplies. I love this cart and want several more. They also come in cream and black.
I LOVE markers! Here I have photographed some of my Montana paint markers, Copic alcohol markers, Aqua Markers(watercolors), Latraset Neons, Faber Castel big brush pens and more. These are great for mark making and detail work on mixed media art and in art journals.
Didn't I say how much I love inks? Here's more of my inks in my Raskog cart!
Pens Pencils and Pastels
Who doesn't obsess over pens? I know I do. I have water soluble pens, white pens, permanent pens, Sharpies, Pitt pens, parallel pens, brush pens, calligraphy pens, pens pens pens! I doodle, scribble, journal and make marks with mine. I also use them to make word are and brushes to sell digitally.
What about pencils? Graphite, charcoal, water soluble, china markers, colored pencils, watercolor pencils! My fave brands are Prismacolor, Faber Castel and Stabilo.
Dylusions Spray Inks
Probably my favorite inks, maybe my favorite art supply. I LOVE these sprays! Yes, sometimes the nozzles clog but for the most part they are awesome, water soluble inks. Spray them or dip and brush in and paint with them. They rock!
